NURSING SPECIALTIES

Importance of Nursing Specialties

01

Medical-Surgical Nursing

Medical-surgical nursing is the backbone of acute care hospitals because it forms the largest nursing specialty and directly manages the recovery of the vast majority of hospitalized patients.

02

Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing

Obstetrics and gynaecology (OB/GYN) nursing is vital because it protects maternal and newborn health, manages reproductive wellness across a woman's lifespan, and lowers complication risks.

03

Child Health Nursing

Child health nursing is vital because children are not miniature adults; they need specialized physical, developmental, and emotional care

04

Mental Health Nursing

Mental health nursing is vital because it bridges the gap between medical treatment and human empathy, helping people manage conditions like depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness.

05

Community Health Nursing

Community health nursing is vital because it brings essential preventive care, education, and health resources directly to underserved populations outside of traditional hospital settings.
